Kay founds Fairfield-Maxwell to take advantage of a business opportunity that arises from his work on U.S.-Japan relations.

1960

Fairfield-Maxwell expansion begins with the launch of the Marion.

1974

Fairfield continues its diversification with an entry point into the seismic services market, ultimately creating an entirely new offering in the industry.

1978

Fairfield launches Great American Lines to operate the Sunbelt-Dixie.

1979

 Kay hands over the company reins to the next generation, appointing his eldest son Kaytaro (KG) as president.

1996

Fairfield-Maxwell expands into the chemical tanker shipping business.
